Designing a self-guided aquaponics exhibition

AVANS University · Aquaponics System – Research & Exhibition Design
Exhibition DesignPrototypingArduino

Summary

A self-guided exhibition system designed to make the layered, often technical process of aquaponics understandable to a general audience, built as a bachelor thesis research project at AVANS University. Rather than starting from a fixed brief, the concept was shaped by user research, then brought to life as a fully working 8-step visitor experience using Arduino-based sensors. The system was later sold to Stichting Duurzame Kost and City Farming in Eindhoven for ongoing use.

Designing 5 user roles into one nationwide arts events platform

Open Studios Australia is a nationwide digital platform designed to connect visitors with artists, studios and creative events across the country. The project reimagines the traditional Open Studios experience with a centralised, mobile-first application where people can discover local creative communities, explore studios, attend activities and workshops, and browse curated catalogues. My role covered concept development, user experience design, Object-Oriented UX (OOUX) structuring and interface prototyping, as well as developing the web app using AI-assisted development, with support from JABA's tech team. The platform was built with a strong focus on user experience and accessibility, so visitors, artists, studio owners and licensees all have tools tailored to their needs.
