Path 04 — Story
My journey through design, technology and problem solving. Before I was a designer, I was someone who liked figuring out how things work.
The Journey
Joined JABA Web Design as part of the design team, designing and delivering custom build websites on JABA's CMS platform. Managed projects from concept through delivery, coordinating closely with stakeholders, developers, and clients throughout. Also supported broader office operations and team culture, and began exploring AI-assisted development tools like Cursor and Replit alongside traditional design workflows.
Led the design and development of a full agricultural processing installation in Biloela, Queensland. Handled corporate branding, product labels, industrial design of the processing plant, and hands-on construction including MIG welding. The installation processed lucerne 400% more efficiently than conventional barn flow with 40% more yield overall.
Five years working independently across web design, branding, content creation, and e-commerce. Designed and developed WordPress websites, created infographics and product mockups, managed Shopify stores, produced social media campaigns, and created video content for travel blogs. Clients included a yoga centre in the Netherlands and The Zythologist Brewing Company in Melbourne.
Delivered instructional content for a laser cutting course for first-year students at Avans University in Den Bosch. Mentored students in prototyping techniques and helped them iterate and test design concepts.
Designed and built an interactive self-guided exhibition system focused on making complex aquaponics information accessible. The concept was driven by user research and sold to Stichting Duurzame Kost and City Farming in Eindhoven.
Joined the UX/UI team at Annosky in the Netherlands, working across multiple in-house applications. Ran usability testing sessions with over 500 students across colleges throughout the Netherlands, personally presenting the apps to the students using them and turning that feedback into several core design decisions. Also produced storyboards, user flows, wireframes, and motion graphics — my first real exposure to the full design process at pace.
Studied Communication and Multimedia Design at Avans Hogeschool Breda with a major in Creative Technology and a minor in Meaningful Data Design. This is where the interest in UX, interaction design, and building things that actually work for people started taking shape.

Outside of Design
There is nothing quite like suiting up when everyone else is heading indoors. Kitesurfing in a storm quiets the mind completely, just wind, water, and reading what comes next. It's physically demanding, technically challenging, and one of the most effective ways to reset.
Dropping below the surface, slowing the breath, watching the heart rate settle, and holding that calm while everything in you wants to surface. It is a practice in self-regulation and focus that is genuinely hard to replicate anywhere else. Pushing your limits underwater is as much a mental discipline as a physical one, and that challenge never gets old.

Having travelled across Europe, Asia, and beyond, the thing that never changes is the urge to get off the main road. The best experiences always come from a bike ride down an unmarked path or a hike that was not in any guidebook. Exploring a new place slowly, at ground level, is the only way to actually understand it.
"We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used
when we created them."
